When people remember Fred Rogers, the long-time star of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, they usually picture him in one of his cardigan sweaters, which came in a variety of colors and spoke to his warm nature. Tom Hanks can be seen wearing such a sweater as he portrays Fred Rogers in the movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
The cardigans Mister Rogers wore in the Neighborhood were a way for him to honor his mother, avid knitter Nancy Rogers, who made the sweaters. “She would give us each a hand-knit sweater every Christmas,” he said.
Designed in the USA and handmade by the finest knitters in Peru, these Mister Rogers sweaters are lovingly crafted from pure alpaca wool. Unlike other natural fibers, alpaca is lighter, thinner and softer than traditional wool, while being warmer and safer for those that suffer from wool allergies.
